Kitchen Accent Wall

Before

When we finished our backsplash, I had to make a decision on what to do with this one wall by our other peninsula. Our kitchen is a corner kitchen with double peninsulas. I really like it, but it made this wall a challenge until I had the idea to do subway tile up the whole wall for something a little different. So we completed this shortly after the backsplash. I love how it turned out, and we constantly get compliments on it because it’s eye-catching!

We did learn some things about this project, even though it was our second go at tile.

  1. Ceilings are NEVER level and always janky. So don’t trust that your lines will line up when you get to the top. We had to do some fancy-cut work with the tile, and it was tricky.

  2. We definitely have some areas of this wall that you can see where we overdid it with cleaning up the grout lines. We cleaned them a little bit unevenly, and when the light hits it right, we can see it, but it’s one of those things that only we notice.
